John Kanitra served the community of Dearborn, Michigan, for 25 years through his work in the Dearborn Police Department. He began his career working in patrol and narcotics, then as Lieutenant went on to manage the budget and handle internal affairs. Retiring from the force in 2013, he became an Angela Hospice volunteer in January 2015, working in the home care and development departments. John is active throughout the community, also serving as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Redford, and Lighthouse Home Missions in Westland.
